Popular Questions

Is there a charge for using this service?

Our focus is on saving parishes time and money – there is no charge for using this service. A small commission will flow back to the Archbishops' Council to enable us to provide the professional service to monitor and manage the contracts, and put new contracts in place. The commission is included in the price quoted by the supplier – the price you are quoted is the price you pay.

Why should my parish use this service?

Whether or not you take advantage of any of the deals offered, Parish Buying can save your parish time and money. You can also be confident that any Parish Buying supplier has undergone a rigorous selection process to ensure they can meet the specific needs of parishes, and that they are regularly monitored to ensure that service levels are maintained.

Why do I have to register?

The prices and services on Parish Buying have been negotiated specifically for The Church of England and The Church in Wales. Registration is required for 2 reasons:
1. To ensure each registrant is authentic and is eligible to use the service.
2. We have a contractual agreement with our suppliers to control who sees and has access to these unique deals.

Will we need to sign up to contracts?

In some cases suppliers need a commitment for a certain length of time – leasing a photocopier for example. In other cases, electricity or gas, you can choose whether you want to fix the price for a period of time, or whether you would rather have un-contracted prices that fluctuate. On others, you can come in and out of the deal as and when you want to – fire safety or office products, for example. Each deal page explains what commitment is required if any.

Who do I pay? Is my contract with the supplier or the National Church?

Relationships are always between the parish and the supplier. This is the simplest, cheapest and most effective way of working. If there are any issues they should be taken up with the supplier in the first instance. However, if any issues aren't resolved satisfactorily, then the National Procurement Officers are able to get involved if necessary. We will monitor contracts on a regular basis to ensure pricing accuracy, quality of service delivery and so on

Can more than one person within a parish register?

We appreciate that often several individuals within a parish have purchasing responsibilities. Each parish can decide how many registrations are appropriate although we would advise that only those with direct buying responsibility register on the site.
