When energy is bought in bulk it is known as a basket deal. The objective is to secure lower contract deals for individual members than they would on their own.
Who can join the basket?
Any Church of England or Church in Wales linked organisation, including parishes, diocesan offices, cathedrals, church schools.
How much will I save?
We hope to achieve savings of at least 10% on average compared with the best price available to a parish purchasing its energy on its own. Since many parishes are not currently receiving the best price, some may save considerably more.
Can I still join if my contract renewal is due after 1st September 2013?
Yes! If your contract ends before 30th September 2015, you can join, but will need to sign up by the 15th June 2013, and will move across to the basket on expiry of your current contract.
If your contract ends after 1st September 2015
please log your details so we can advise you nearer the time how you can benefit.
Is it free to join?
Yes! There is no charge to join the basket. This service is paid for by a small commission received from the energy supplier.
Who will I pay?
Total (the selected energy supplier). Total will bill each member organisation separately, just like your current arrangement.
Why can't you provide a price?
The way that energy is purchased through a basket is fundamentally different to the usual fixed price offers that parishes currently get offered by suppliers and brokers. Read more
Can I use my existing broker to access basket prices?
No. Soils are the only Parish Buying approved energy consultant and are closely monitored by the Parish Buying team to ensure good service and transparent pricing. We recommend you use the Solis service, in preference to a broker.
Can I leave the energy basket?
We hope that you will never want to leave the basket but we realise it is important to always have the option. If you serve notice by the 1st April of any year you will be removed from the following October's basket.
Are you offering a green energy basket?
The Parish Buying website offers green energy contracts. We are still building volume to reach the amount of energy needed to create a green basket.
