The General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) will take effect in the UK from 25 May 2018 and the Church must comply with its requirements, just like any other charity or organisation.
Not sure what that means for your parish, diocese, cathedral or organisation? In addition to the guidance available on Parish Resources, Parish Buying members have access to discounted online training with Me Learning.
Depending on your role, there are five courses to choose from:
All prices are exclusive of VAT.
You’ll need a desktop or laptop device with internet access to run courses that you’ve purchased through Me Learning. The recommended browser is Google Chrome, or alternatively Mozilla Firefox / Internet Explorer 11 or later.
The course has audio commentary, so speakers or headphones will be required, but if you prefer you can mute the audio and follow the text. Please note that some of the supplementary videos do not have subtitles.
The courses vary in length but the training is modular so can be completed in manageable chunks. You can come back to it where you left off.
Core 90 minutes
Marketer 3 hours
Foundation 3 hours 30 minutes
Practitioner 5 hours
Board Training 90 minutes
Once you have purchased a course, you will receive a confirmation email letting you know you are being set up on the system. You will then be sent a welcome email with your log-in details – this should only take a few minutes to reach you unless you have purchased the course over the weekend. If you wish to access the training over a weekend, please purchase the course by Thursday.
You will be asked to change your password at first log-in. The password rules are:
If you select an incorrect password you will be prompted to change it.
Please note, some dioceses are pre-paying for some of their staff or volunteers to do the GDPR MeLearning training. Parish Buying are not responsible for any queries regarding payment (queries should be sent directly to your diocese).
